Numerous Uses And Benefits Of “Cucumber Tree” Better Know As “Kamias” In The Philippines

Averrhoa bilimbi (commonly known as bilimbi, cucumber tree, or tree sorrel) is a fruit-bearing tree of the genus Averrhoa, family Oxalidaceae. It is a close relative of carambola tree.

It is a fruit that has a sour taste and rich of health benefits. In English is often known as the cucumber tree. Bilimbi fruit is often used as a seasoning vegetables and herbal medicine.

The tree as well as the fruit is popular by different names in different languages. Bilimbi is quite different in its physical appearance, flavor and uses than that of carambola. In Malaya, this is termed as Belimbing asam and in Indonesia it is Blimbing wuluh. This exceptional exotic fruit is highly popular in Thailand and Singapore. It is a rare plant and few growers produce them.

Health Benefits And Uses Of Balimbi:

1. High blood pressure
Prepare 3 pieces of bilimbi and coral jasmine seed 25 gr (finely crushed). Put it in a pan containing 4 cups of water and boil together with bilimbi. Chill and strain before drinking. Simply drink 1 cup a day. A large fruit and green grated, take the water and drink. Or you can also do this by setting up 3 pieces of bilimbi, cut into pieces as needed, boiled in 3 cups of water until the remaining 1 cup. After chilling filtered, drink it after breakfast.

2. Acne treatment
Bilimbi useful for treating acne. Prepare 3 leaves of bilimbi, wash thoroughly. Grate and give a little salt. Stick it on the skin with acne. Apply 2 times a day. Another step is to prepare 6 pieces of bilimbi and 1/2 teaspoon of powdered sulfur, milled into powder mixed with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. This herb is used to rub the face with acne. Do it 2-3 times a day.

3. Diabetes treatment
Prepare 6 pieces of bilimbi, then crushed, boiled with 1 cup of water until the water a half, strain, drink 2 times a day.

4. Mumps treatment
Take a handful of bilimbi leaves, pounded with 3 garlic. Compress on the part of the mumps.

5. Rheumatism
Take 100 grams of bilimbi, mash until smooth, add whiting, rubbing into the affected part.

6. Sore
A handheld young leaves of bilimbi, 10 grains of cloves, 15 peppercorns, finely milled and then add vinegar in moderation. Rub into the sore spot.

7. Skin fungus
10 pieces of bilimbi wash and finely ground, whiting, kneaded until smooth. This herb is used to rub on the skin phlegm. Apply 2 times a day.
