Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, or popularly known as “Digong,” is a tough and well-known politician in the Philippines. He was a controversial but popular candidate running for the presidency this coming elections. You may see him as hard-hearted person but to his kids, he is good father.
His daughter Sara Duterte shared a heart-warming and inspiring story about her father which is making rounds on the social media sites today. It was a short yet a heartfelt story that will inspire every Filipino.
In the story posted by Mugstoria, Sara Duterte shared that Digong never missed her school’s Recognition Days as he always wanted to pin the medals and ribbons.
She also said that her father used to tell her that “education is everything” during her childhood days. He added that the 70-year-old presidential candidate was not specific about academic excellence and he think that medals were only a bonus.
Further more, the former mayor shared how Digong helped her when she was about to give up on law school. At that time, she was a having a hard time in her studies when he decided to call Rodrigo Duterte.
The former mayor said that Digong didn’t say comforting words, but his advice was life-changing. It was only few words that made her go on with her studies.
She was crying while talking to her father. But, the tough-talking politician told her, “The answers are not in your tears. Go back to your books!” she quoted.
She added that someone told her that her father cried when he found out that she passed the BAR examinations.
